Velocity Hurricane Zones: Titebond Sealants Exceed Tough Building Code Requirements

Titebond’s WeatherMaster™ Metal Roof Sealant and WeatherMaster ULTIMATE MP Sealant have been approved for use in Miami-Dade County after receiving the “Notice of Acceptance” (NOA) as approved products for use on buildings in the county. Miami-Dade County, located in the southeast tip of Florida, is one of two “high-velocity hurricane zones” (HVHZ) in that state and maintains strict building codes to protect against storm damage.

We are extremely excited about becoming an approved building product in Miami-Dade,” said David Braun, vice president, market development.“Few other sealant manufacturers have passed testing required for approval, and the fact that two of our sealants made the grade says a lot about them and about the WeatherMaster brand.”

WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant offers exceptional adhesion to Kynar™- coated metal materials, along with standard metal, aluminum, steel, galvanized surfaces, plastics and glass. It also adheres to wood, masonry, PVC and most common building materials. It’s available in more than 50 colors that match today’s popular metal roof and metal siding colors, regardless of material or manufacturer.

WeatherMaster ULTIMATE MP Sealant adheres to aluminum, painted metal, PVC, concrete, wood, most common building materials such as wall panels, siding, flashing, and sheet metal, including Kynar™- and Hylar™ 5000-coated metal panels. It will even stick to damp surfaces and provides a weather-tight seal against water, wind, dust and dirt. It’s ideal for use on a variety of roofing applications, gutters, metal and vinyl siding, windows, doors and air vents. It comes in more than 20 colors.

Don’t live in Southeast Florida? No problem! These two sealants are the perfect choice for protecting many building materials against any high-velocity wind damage.

Although contractors in Florida aren’t likely to need a sealant that extrudes in extremely cold weather conditions (down to 0°F/-18°C), both WeatherMaster sealants do. Both also are UV-resistant and paintable with latex-based paint two hours after application. They contain no solvents or isocyanates and are VOC-compliant. Both sealants are available in 10.1-ounce cartridges and 20-ounce sausage packs from building supply stores, lumberyards and some hardware stores.
